The Hellenic Police unveiled comprehensive security and traffic measures for tonight's UEFA Europa Conference League final at the OPAP Arena in Athens. The match, scheduled for 22:00, will see Olympiacos face off against Fiorentina.
Major General Ioannis Skouras, the General Police Director of Attica and the chief security officer for the final, emphasised the extensive efforts to ensure the event's safety and smooth execution. Approximately 5,000 police officers will be deployed to safeguard the athletes, officials, journalists, and spectators, and to facilitate the orderly arrival and transportation of fans, including those with disabilities.
Two official Fan Meeting Points have been established for supporters of the two teams. Olympiacos fans, with red tickets, will gather at the Peace and Friendship Stadium in Neo Faliro and will be transported to the OPAP Arena via metro line 1 trains, which will make no other stops. They will disembark at Perissos station and walk to the stadium under police escort. Fiorentina fans, holding blue tickets, will meet at the OAKA stadium and will be transported on OSY buses to the arena under strict security measures.
Fans without allegiance to either team, designated by white tickets, will board special metro line 1 trains from the ‘Irene’ and Thissio stations to Perissos station without intermediate stops. Minivans will be available at Perissos and Apostolakis Park to transport persons with disabilities to the arena.
From 17:00 on Wednesday, metro line 1 will be closed to regular commuters, with only the stations used for fan transportation remaining open. Only ticket holders with a legal ticket and police ID will be permitted to use the trains. A security perimeter around the stadium has been established since Sunday, allowing passage only to those with special clearance. Spectators must present their tickets and ID at designated access points and undergo a body search. Forbidden items will result in removal and custody.
The external perimeter will open four hours before the match for spectators to gather inside, with planned events by UEFA. Stadium gates will open three hours before kickoff.
Post-match, Olympiacos supporters will be escorted back to Perissos station, while Fiorentina fans will be taken to the buses on Dekelias Avenue. Tight security will also cover the transportation of the teams, referees, and officials.
In addition to security measures, police have announced traffic restrictions in Nea Philadelphia and surrounding districts, effective since Monday. These include road closures, particularly around the stadium and central Athens, Faliro, and other fan meeting points, and restrictions on parking and stopping. Today, the most extensive traffic measures will be in place, with motorists advised to avoid using the specified roads and to follow police instructions.
